DOROT, Inc., is a Manhattan-based social service organization that provides innovative programs to senior adults and adults with disabilities. University Without Walls (UWW) brings people together for learning and socialization over the telephone. Without leaving home, participants are connected to “live” interactive classes, support groups, and workshops. All classes are noncredit and are lead by professional facilitators. Over 100 courses are offered each semester, on subjects ranging from art, history, music, literature, current events, health and wellness, BINGO, and other games. Registration fee is $10 and each course costs $15; scholarships are available. There is no fee for the phone calls.”At home students” are able to ask questions and interact with each other and the instructor.
